‘DOAP: Dreams Of A Poet’ marks Laszlo Van Leeuwen’s most ambitious project to date – a 24-track body of work recorded over several years and remastered in 432Hz, designed to resonate on both a sonic and emotional frequency.

Blending introspection with social commentary, the mixtape explores everything from personal dreams, struggles, and identity to themes of political corruption and racism, all balanced with moments of wit and sharp humor. It’s a project that doesn’t just speak – it challenges, questions, and connects.

Sonically, DOAP is a global collaboration. The tape features production from acclaimed names such as Anno Domini (50 Cent, Immortal Technique, D12), Johnny Juliano (Drake, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean), AMP Live (9th Wonder’s Soul Council), 2Deep (Jadakiss, Rick Ross, Method Man), and Ric & Thadeus (Kid Ink), alongside a strong African presence including South African heavyweight YoungstaCPT, SA Idols winner Jody Williams, and Namibian lyricist Ali That Dude of Black Vulcanite.

At its core, DOAP is a showcase of Laszlo’s artistry – intricate storytelling, sharp lyricism, and seamless transitions between English and Dutch. It’s a project built for true hip hop listeners, reinforcing his reputation as a versatile and thoughtful wordsmith.

Laszlo’s sound is deeply rooted in his upbringing. Born in Utrecht, Netherlands, to an anthropologist father and a social worker mother, he left Europe just nine days after birth to live in Darfur, Sudan. From there, his life unfolded across continents – from Southeast Asia to West Africa – shaping a perspective that few artists can replicate. This global lens is embedded in every verse.

Today, Laszlo stands as an independent force. With over 60,000 followers, more than a million streams, radio play across South Africa, and performances broadcast to millions, he has steadily built a foundation without compromise. His work has been featured across television, print, and international platforms, reinforcing his growing presence in the global music landscape.

With the release of DOAP – alongside a new mixtape and EP – Laszlo enters a new phase. One defined not just by output, but by intention. Fans can support directly through Bandcamp or by collecting his NFTs, unlocking access to live performances, exclusive Q&A sessions, behind-the-scenes content, and more.

This is more than a release.

It’s a journey in motion.

The only question is – will you be part of it?
